The much-awaited sporting extravaganza FIFA World Cup 2014 has already kicked off in Brazil on 12th June’14. The whole world is keeping their eyes on this game to get minutes of this FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 to make it memorable event of their life. This time of FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 is different from the way football fans have engrossed themselves into the game compared to earlier FIFA WORLD CUP events. All credit goes to new emerging world called Digital World where all social media platforms trying to associate themselves with most watched and branded game by keeping themselves abreast of game on real time basis besides engaging all fans across the globe. Like most of other countries, India is too fascinated about world’s most popular sporting event FIFA WORLD CUP 2014. I am amazed to see this world of “FOOTBALL” which is emerging, trendy and much more passionate than ever.

Amidst all of these, one billion dollar question which has been drumming my mind is that why cannot country of 1.2bn population represent themselves in this world’s most watched game FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 as the combined population of the 32 countries participating in FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 is 1.9bn? This clearly indicated that India alone represents 65% of the total population of participating countries in FIFA WORLD CUP 2014. This time, 209 countries participated to qualify in final 32 squad of FIFA WORLD CUP 2014. This shows that 1 in every 5 countries gets a chance to participate in FIFA WORLD CUP then why cannot we fall into this category? India ranked in last 27 countries who could not qualify for FIFA WORLD CUP 2014. What’s going wrong with India?

This time FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 is held at Brazil. It brings memories of the story of the Indian football team which was supposed to play in the tournament held in the same country 64 years ago. India missed the chance and has not got another one till now.

The Indian team stunned the world at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London by playing barefoot. It was the country's first appearance in an international sporting event after gaining independence from Britain. India got a chance to play world cup 1948 but it decided to withdraw from world cup being barred from playing barefoot besides other reasons including financial constraints and lack of awareness of the game rules.

Currently, FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 is the 20th edition of the biggest international soccer tournament in the world and unfortunately, India has never been able to participate or qualify for this event. What’s happening in India? I will be wrong if I say we are not passionate about this game. Indians too enjoy and follow this game.

Now let me tell you what are the factors which actually restraining India from representing since last 64 years.
1) Lack of Vision – Lack of vision for football game is something I believe is one of the topmost reasons for not able to represent this international event.
2) Lack of Awareness – Unlike cricket which is followed religiously in India, not many Indians even know about this game, only in urban area where football game is quite knows and followed.
3) Lack of Realization – Unfortunately, we have not been realizing the potential of football game. It is the large source of revenue maker for lots other countries as it brings lot of excitement amongst fans and International recognition which this game offers is something unmatched.
4) Lack of Accountability – Nobody from the sports department seems to be accountable to build competent and world class sports culture. Complacent attitude of these sports ministries and coordination gap among other sports committee are to be blamed for this sports cultural gap.
5) Lack of Basic Infrastructure – Unfortunately, due to lot of reasons, we have not been able to build world class sports infrastructure which in turn has led to poor adoption of this game. This might be due to lack of basic technical know-how of the game.
6) Lack of Promotion – Unlike cricket, govt. seem not be interested in promoting this international event at any stage of life. Due to lack of budget or less budget assigned to such game actually demotivates all related sports officials to promote this game and due this unpopularity only, it is not promoted and recommended amongst school and parents fraternity.
7) Lack of Recognition – We have not been able to acknowledged and recognized football game due to lack of focus and biased towards only one sport which is CRICKET. Lack of recognition at district, state, regional and country level.
8) Lack of Fame and Money –All above mentioned problem factors which actually hurt two main elements of this international popular game which are money and fame. These are the two ingredients which actually make this game a true international event.
9) Lack of Privatization – In India, Unlike Cricket, Football game is not privatized as it is handled by our govt. dept. and official which in turn brings complacency and ignorance on the table.

I can go on and list down “N” number of factors but those will not bring solutions so according to me, if we can just focus upon problem factors which have been acting as hurdles for football game not able to find place in India and vice-versa and try to fix all these issues one by one as soon as possible.

Indian Super League which is new and proposed football league in India has an agreement English Premier League is one of the solutions which we have taken aiming towards building a base for Football game and make it compelling enough to attract talent and viewers both.

I am sure if we start representing India in Football game at International level then it will help India to brand itself at International level as Brand India will reach out to global football fans which in turn boost Indian tourism and  other industries as well besides generating lot of revenue and job opportunities internally as well.

One day, I wish I would consciously say with smile on my face that “YES, WE TOO HAVE OUR INDIAN ORIGIN MESSI AND INDIA CAN WIN FIFA WORLD CUP"

Hey Buddy, it’s too long we haven’t met, let’s catch up some day”, “hey, where are you, I have been calling you, you are not responding”, “hey dude, where the hell have you been?”, “these days you are so busy, I miss you bro”. This is how we used to express our emotions, right from the bottom of our heart to all our dear buddies, before the social media era. Today also we have been saying all these but the same has been replaced by one single click on “LIKE BUTTON” which is a feature of social networking service Facebook, where users can like content such as status updates, comments, photos, links shared by friends, and advertisements.

Now we have entered into the world where from expression to conversation, everything is virtual and the world has accepted this very fast and positively. Only five years ago, the term “like” was just another word used to describe one’s preferences. In last 5 years, the whole human expression traits have changed vividly. In today’s digital universe, however, the notion of “liking” something has become ubiquitous.

Liking is one of the primary ways people exert their tastes and preferences online, and it has created an entirely new type of conversation – one between consumers and brands. However, Generation-X people are finding it tough to adjust with this as they see and believe that such form of expression leads to making them feel “UNREAL”. Generation-Y and Generation-Z have accepted it without any choice as in such highly paced life where simply being in touch with your buddies becomes a challenge (earlier it was fun), one single click on “LIKE BUTTON” has become a lifetime solution for expression.
Gradually, the idea of “Liking” has gone a unwise shift in both meaning and intent as a result of Facebook “LIKE BUTTON”. This clearly indicates that expression “LIKE” has moved away from the realm of the emotive internal life of an individual into the realm of discursive public sphere of societies. This process of clicking on “LIKE BUTTON” on Facebook has become an action rather to feel about it. Today, social media has become a trading platform for expressions. Most people tend to live in exchange of “LIKES”. “If you like me only then I like you”. “If I like you but you don’t like me then I too will not like you”. Even on these days, people like their own status, photo, comment etc. on Facebook!! Strange Virtual World isn’t it?

To understand the true sense behind “what will be FACEBOOK without this one social plugin feature called “LIKE BUTTON”, WILL IT DIE SOON?” let me throw some light on “DIGITAL LIKING" by giving you some shocking and amazing stats”.

1) On an average day, Facebook pages get over 50mn LIKES. That’s 578 likes a second
2) One in 5 websites is using Facebook “LIKE BUTTUN”. That’s over 125mn websites around the world.
3) On an average, people who like websites on Facebook have 2.5 times more friends.
4) Clicking on “LIKE BUTTON” is the most preferred activity people do on Facebook.
5) As of today, since the inception of “LIKE BUTTON”, the total number of Facebook likes reached at 37bn.
6) 52% of Fans like a page to get a coupon or discount.
7) 55% of Facebook Fans like a page so they can participate in contests.

The Facebook has started taking an advantage of this inexorable habit of human expression on virtual platform. It has officially declared that it will be tracking our online consumption and behavior both on and off Facebook. Like Google, Facebook wants to leverage its understanding of our user behavior to serve you more targeted ads.

Facebook has been using our likes and posts on Facebook to target ads to us already. Now, Facebook will track us across any website you visit, as long as the site has a “Like button”, a Facebook login, or any Facebook code. Not only this, Facebook will track us reading habits even if we don't login via Facebook or click on “Like button” on the site.

For advertisers, Facebook is aiming to build a bank of data to help target advertising better. This can be a big business for Facebook. Google has earned as much as $13billions from data-based targeting. Facebook is looking to take a larger piece of this growing market.

Recently I Saw an Interesting Billboard ad (featuring model) of Myntra – ecommerce giant of fashion apparel that says “I got 255 likes for my Sun and Sand Look”. I am amazed to see the way companies have identified and started exploiting this one of the most popular activities of clicking “LIKE BUTTON” on social media world.

By now I believe you could imagine how this one feature called “LIKE BUTTON” has become a major source of revenue for Facebook and lot other advertisers. Now if this social plug in feature is removed from Facebook then I believe most of us probably may be very uncomfortable while using Facebook as it may create big vacuum in our mind and gradually, Facebook will be faded as nobody will find a reason to stay on this largest virtual nation.

I am very amazed to see the way today most of the companies use our act of clicking on “LIKE BUTTON” as an ingredient to generate revenue and profit. Just 5 years before, saying ‘I LIKE YOU’ was nothing but merely an emotion coming from our heart.

Digital marketing is marketing that makes use of electronic devices (computers) such as personal computers, smartphones, cellphones, tablets and game consoles to engage with stakeholders. Digital marketing applies technologies or platforms such as websites, e-mail, apps (classic and mobile) and social networks.

 Types of digital marketing

In pull digital marketing, the consumer actively seeks the marketing content, often via web searches or opening an email, text message or web feed Websites, blogs and streaming media (audio and video) are examples of pull digital marketing. In each of these, users have to navigate to the website to view the content.

In push digital marketing the marketer sends a message without the recipient actively seeking the content, such as display advertising on websites and news blogs.

It is said that Picture is worth 1000 words and Video is worth 1mn pictures so I would request you to access video which gives you an idea what Digital Marketing is all about in 3min.

Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. Today, in the United States as in other countries populated largely by immigrants, the culture is influenced by the many groups of people that now make up the country.

Culture is the sum of total of the learned behavior of a group of people that are generally considered to be the tradition of that people and are transmitted from generation to generation.

Culture is a collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another.

We all know that Video is worth a million words so I would request you to access video attached to get clarity on what is culture and why it matters the most to human being.

Japanese culture including traditional Japanese culture like Geisha, Samurai, Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese gardens, kimonos and Japanese Language. Plus modern Japanese culture such as modern Japanese fashion and music.

Japanese culture, particularly traditional Japanese culture has many roots in traditional Chinese culture, however Japanese culture, even historically differed from Chinese culture and due to the separation of the two land masses, plus the enforced periods of isolation from the outside world, further extended the differences between the two cultures.
Today in Japan it is still possible to see kimono-clad women shuffling down the street with umbrellas overhead, or oversized sumo wrestlers battling it out the ring.  A sophisticated cuisine, unique social customs, and refined performing and visual arts also contribute to a culture which has become attractive, and sometimes fashionable, to many foreigners.

Below is the video which illustrates the modern japan popular cultural activities.

If I ask you about the country which has been blessed with world’s most scenic places besides following religion which is syncretic and unified in nature consists of mountains, including more than 200 volcanoes and 6800 islands. The country where Harmony being the guiding philosophy, people actually believes in and die for helping others and working towards betterment of society and universe together. The country where time is the most valuable asset of their life - Discipline, Punctuality, planning and execution are so desirable that they cannot think to live without it. The country where people appear at first glimpse to be one of the most socially and ethnically homogenous groups in the world.

Ok, I hope now you are getting it rightly. I am talking about world’s most beautiful country "JAPAN".

Japan is also known by “The land of rising Sun”. If somebody wants to experience and understand what "Atidhi Devo Bhava" means, these amazing people of amazing country will teach you.

Japan is a country with fascinating culture and history and not many people around the world know about this country as there is almost no immigration in Japan, so I thought I would share some of the interesting facts I’ve learned about this divine place from my own experience.

It will be very interesting to see which are those 10 things this amazing country cannot live without!!

1) Pachinko–Pachinko parlors are widespread in Japan and they usually also feature a number of slot machines hence, these venues operate and look similar to casinos .At first glance, it sounds like “Gambling” but Japanese call it “Gaming”.

Japanese people are very passionate and addicted to gaming and that’s what made this Pachinko a big success. The pachinko industry constitutes Japan's largest leisure activity.

A pachinko fanatic women left her kids suffocating inside the car in the parking lot for hours while she was totally engrossed with the slot machine game.

Another major reason behind pachinko’s success is that solitude is very common and respected. Just to highlight the craziness/madness/passion that Japanese people have for these slot machine games, I would quote an incident that was published in the local newspaper here in japan.

Karaoke is also a popular free-time activity. People enjoy karaoke not only with friends but also with colleagues from work or family members.

2) Night Clubs–You must be wondering if there is any place for fun and entertainment in Japanese community which is highly discipline and shy in nature and dedicated to their professional work and personal both!! Then answer is yes. I must say that if you want to see fun loving nature of Japanese people then you must visit these night clubs and I am sure you all will start believing that they have their own style of fun.

During day time, they are focused towards their work but during night times, they become very loud and fun loving in nature. I was amazed to see the another side of these people's personality at night clubs. Night clubs are something they cannot live without.

Tokyo’s best known night clubs places are at Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi.

3) Fashion–Japanese people have an incredible sense of style. Fashion plays a huge role in Japanese people’s everyday life because in Japan, fashion is considered to be a simple way to express yourself, to manifest who you are, and to show others that you are aware of the newest trends. If you want to know which are the latest fashion trends amongst girls then I would say just follow “Tokyo Girls Collection”.
Japan is famous for its amazing street fashion. The popular Japanese Street fashion trends are known as Lolita style, Kogal Style, Ganguro style etc.

Gothic Lolita, which is a blend of sweet porcelain doll look and more wild styles as goth and punk ones

Gyaru are trend seekers who change their style every few months. The one constant feature is a Japanese beach style — dark tanned skin and surfer girl hair

Kogals are gyaru who are still in high school and therefore stuck with their uniform most of the time.

Ganguro falls into the larger subculture of gyaru. The ganguro style consists of bleached hair, a deep tan, fake eyelashes, black and white eyeliner, bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces and platform shoes.

4) Metro Trains–Again, Metro trains are also an integral part of their way of life. I must say that it is certainly the life line of Japan. The way the whole Japan is connected by these metro trains have actually helped Japanese community to live a high standard life.

These metro trains actually play a vital role in Japanese people’s ability to reach their destination on time and have been supplementing their highly paced life.

I would say if you want to see the error free system equipped with discipline, punctuality, planning and execution, Japanese metro train is the perfect example.

5) Mobile (Keitai) – Imagining Japanese people without mobile phones!!! You’ve got to be kidding me. From school age to middle aged adults, mobile phones have become the most essential part of their life/a way of their life.

While travelling on metros, walking on streets, even while having lunch or a cup of coffee, more often than not you might see Japanese people engaged with their handsets.

I’ll tell you, It’s actually one heck of a sight watching Japanese people briskly walking and making their way through the crowd on metro stations with their heads down and eye balls fixed to their cell phones’ screens.

Many people in Japan use both a cell phone and smartphone to make the most of the features of each type of phone. You must be wondering what they do all the time on phones. Ok!!! Since long cell phone conversations are discouraged on public transportations like metro train, most of them either access internet to chat with friends ,play animated video games or read comics.

6) Vending Machine –One just cannot be thirsty in Japan. Japan has the highest number of vending machines per capita with around 1 machine for every 20 people. Here you can find vending machines at every nook and corner of the street. Seriously, at every 50mtr distance, there is one vending machine accessible to everybody at all times.

Quite interestingly, these machines change their temperature and stocks depending on the season. It barely takes 10 sec to get your drink from vending machines and the best part is that 100-150 yen is all you need to fetch a flavored mineral water bottle and quench your thirst.

Vending machines in Japan sell beer, hot and cold canned coffee, cigarettes, and other items like packaged foods, flowers, manga comics, toy cars etc. and yes, when it comes to flavored drinks then it is at its best.

7) Coffee – is highly preferred and highly consumed beverages in Japan. You find most of the café shops all time full with people from all walks of life as they love to hang out at café shops.

Japan imports approximately 85% of Jamaica's annual coffee production. Black Coffee is the most preferred beverage during business meetings. Japan has cafes where people can play with puppies and kittens.

8) Fish, Rice and noodles–“Sushi” and Noodle dishes such as ramen and soba are preferred dishes. Former is prepared by hand-molded portions of vinegared rice which  are topped with slices of raw fish, shellfish, and other ingredients.

Keeping fast paced life of Japan/Japanese people into consideration, food prepared outside the home is mostly consumed by them during their lunch and dinner time. They call this boxed Japanese meal as ‘Obento’.

9) Leisure Activity
– Hanging out with Family on weekends is the most preferred leisure activity in Japanese culture. Post retirement leisure activities, Family oriented leisure activities and children specific leisure activities. Some of them might prepare a camp fire on a day off, visit a hot spring resort, participate in sports club.

10) Non Verbal Communication – Since Japanese strive for harmony which is guiding philosophy in family and business, they often rely on facial expression, tone of voice and posture to tell them what they feel.

They often give distinct and prominent gestures while giving nonverbal messages. They find it hard to say “No” or “Excuse Me” to anyone so they prefer others to understand their nonverbal expressions.

Expressions to watch out for include puffing through scrunched teeth, tilting the head, scratching the back of the head, and scratching the eyebrow.

It's always better to know other's views so let’s have some meaningful conversations below on the similar line of some other countries.

Hey friends, if you like this blog then please share with your friends and let see what they also have to say on this.
